New York Pizza & Restaurant

Overview

Walking into New York Pizza & Restaurant feels like stepping into a familiar neighborhood spot where the ovens are always warm and the menu is written with confidence. I first stopped by during a busy weekday lunch, expecting a quick slice, and ended up staying longer than planned because the atmosphere and food pulled me in. Located at 7800 S US Hwy 17 92, Fern Park, FL 32730, United States, this diner-style restaurant has become a go-to for locals who appreciate straightforward cooking done right.

From experience working with independent eateries, I’ve learned that consistency matters more than flashy trends. Here, the kitchen sticks to classic New York-style pizza principles: thin crust, balanced sauce, and cheese that melts evenly without overpowering the base. Food science research from culinary institutes often notes that proper dough fermentation improves flavor and digestibility, and you can taste that patience in every bite. The crust has that slight chew with crisp edges, which is exactly what pizza experts like Tony Gemignani often highlight as a benchmark for quality pies.

The menu goes well beyond pizza, which is something I always look for when reviewing a restaurant. Alongside slices and full pies, there are calzones, baked ziti, chicken parmesan, subs, and classic diner-style comfort dishes. On one visit, I watched a family order different items across the menu, and everything arrived hot and well-paced. That tells me the kitchen workflow is solid, a process many restaurant consultants emphasize to maintain quality during peak hours.

Reviews from regulars frequently mention portion size and value, and that aligns with what I observed. A single slice is filling without feeling heavy, and the pasta portions are generous enough to share. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, customers are more likely to return to restaurants that deliver perceived value rather than novelty, and this place clearly understands that balance.

What stood out most during my visits was the staff’s knowledge of the menu. When I asked about the sauce, I got a clear explanation of how it’s prepared daily and balanced to complement the cheese instead of masking it. That level of transparency builds trust, especially in a time when diners care about ingredients and preparation methods. While the restaurant doesn’t market itself as gourmet, the execution shows practical expertise earned through years of repetition and feedback.

The location also plays a role in its popularity. Sitting along a busy stretch of road in Fern Park, it’s easy to access for dine-in or takeout. Many customers pop in after work or grab food for family dinners, and the steady flow suggests strong word-of-mouth. Online reviews reflect this pattern, often highlighting friendly service, reliable food quality, and a welcoming vibe that makes people feel comfortable coming back.

It’s fair to acknowledge a limitation: if you’re looking for experimental toppings or upscale plating, this might not be your scene. The focus here is traditional fare, and that’s intentional. For diners who value familiar flavors, quick service, and a menu that delivers what it promises, that focus becomes a strength rather than a drawback.

In a dining landscape where trends change fast, this restaurant succeeds by staying grounded. My repeated visits have shown me that reliability, honest cooking, and attentive service still matter. Whether you’re scanning menus online, checking reviews, or simply driving by and craving a dependable slice, this spot holds its own by doing the basics exceptionally well.

Good food at a good price in a good looking restaurant. It's exactly what you want when you want NY style pizza. Pizza by the slice is also very big lol.

Just like NY. I'm from NY been here about 5 years and I have tried a lot of pizza places, all the ones people say are great. This is the best I've had, truly nostalgic tasting, exactly like NY pizza. First time in there and I will be back many times! Affordable, delicious, friendly.

Real deal Ny Pizza spot for sure! Prices are great and the people running it definitely know what they’re doing! There aren’t enough mom and pop pizza spots here in central Florida and this one is not one to be missed!

I enjoyed the pizza here. We have been searching for our new favorite pizza place. The staff here were so unfriendly. RBF on all that worked here. I feel like it isn't too hard to interact with people pleasantly. You don't have to be over the top, but a tad bit of kindness would help. This is more like here's your pizza now get out kind of vibe. But I'm not here for the staff as I just took my pizza to go. We got mushrooms, onions, and pepperoni. They used real cut mushrooms rather than canned. I love that. The onions still had a slight crunch to it as well which made us happy. The sauce wasn't sweet nor too tangy. The cheese wasn't so thick that it took you forever to chew(yuck) but just right. I would definitely eat here again.

Really awesome find. The food was awesome. Great NY style pizza. Glad we ordered a large pizza, plenty of leftovers for take home. And antipasto salad was delicious and fresh with oil and vinegar. As were the garlic rolls, loads of garlic and butter. So good, If you're on the fence, give them a try.

Tried this place for the first time, and can honestly say it definitely honors its current 4.7/5 rating. It is the best pizza spot so far in the area strictly from a traditional cheese pizza slice comparison. We ordered both a Popeye and regular Cheese (dine-in) for an accurate review. The Popeye had a significant crisp on the bottom as well as a crunchy crust. The Cheese had a similar bottom crisp but not as much as the Popeye. I love the price of the cheese. The Popeye seemed a bit pricey compared to the flavor, I had to add more salt to each bite. Will definitely visit again to try other items but purely from a regular Cheese, this is the spot

Calling all New Yorkers!! (And Jersey ppl). This is THE spot for pizza. They got your white slices & plain pies, and whatever else you want. Can't go wrong. Absolutely delicious and the perfect pizza dining experience β€” authentic to NJ/NYC without having to leave FL. 10/10.

First time here - I went in for a slice with extra cheese and they put a lot of cheese - which is exactly how I wanted it. Piping hot and melty. Every other place makes it look like they never added anything extra but here, they added it to the crust. Good flavor. Will be back to try more stuff!
